Vitamin C

Hello and welcome here. It has been like forever.

I will confess that I had some topics to share but I dragged my feet a lot.

Today, I will share just a little on this vitamin I love so much.

I most probably have shared some of these on other blog posts but see this as another version.

Do You Know Your Vitamins?

We have water soluble vitamins and fat soluble vitamins.

The major difference between them is that water soluble are not stored in the body and therefore are needed to be taken regularly to maintain their levels in the body.

Both classes are important for healthy body functions.

Water Soluble vitamins include:

  • B1
  • B2
  • B3
  • B5
  • B6
  • B9
  • Vitamin C

Fat Soluble vitamins:

  • A
  • D
  • E
  • K

Other forms

Vitamin C can be used on the skin as a facial serum or added to skin products as they help reduce wrinkles and act as anti-aging agents due to the breakdown of collagen caused by the aging process.

N.B It is advisable to start using anti aging products from age 25

It can also be taken as tablets supplements and is relevant in alleviating symptoms of flu.

Possible side effects and Contraindications

Vitamin C may cause gastrointestinal upset and in patients suffering from peptic ulcer, it may flare up abdominal discomfort. This can be said to be because of the increased gastric motility and acidity which will flare up symptoms. Therefore, it is advisable that these people minimise the intake of food containing high content of ascorbic acid.

So what are you planning to do?

I did advise that you take vitamin C regularly and enjoy the benefits it does to your skin and body.

It helps bowel movement and relieves constipation, so you may want to try more oranges.
