TIGER NUT MILK MANGO SMOOTHIE

Hello!

I have a lot of smoothie recipes to share with you.

I’ll share this recently made one with and share the rest later.

Ingredients

  • Tiger nuts (dried or fresh)
  • Sweet mangoes
  • Milk (optional)
  • Sugar (optional)
  • Water

PROCEDURE

If the tigernuts are fresh, you go straight into making this drink. However, if it is dried you may want to fist soak it for at least 4 to 5 hours before blending.

Place tigernuts in blender, blend until smooth.

Place in a sieve and drain out the juice using enough water.

Use the tiger nut milk as the liquid, put back in blender then add diced mangoes.

Put milk and sugar (optional for those not using diary or sugar).

Then until smooth.

Voila…

Ready to drink.

N.B You can refrigerate mangoes prior to give a thicker consistency or refrigerate drink after making it. As you desire.

Lactose Intolerance : The Gaseous stomach trigger

On today’s tips and reviews, I will share my personal struggle πŸ™ˆ

I love diary to bits. I enjoy taking milk. It has always been a huge part of my diet for years.

Recently, I noticed my stomach was a bit uncomfortable after I consumed milk or yoghurt.

It was so uncomfortable that I would be in discomfort for the whole day.

After careful observations, I realized that diary was the culprit πŸ€’πŸ˜³

As one who enjoys diary, I am often taking it in excess quantities. Being disciplined has been difficult to maintain, however when I weighed the discimfort I was experiencing I knew I had to make the right changes.

What is Lactose Intolerance?

It is the inability of the body to digest lactose due to the absence of lactase enzyme.

It can be genetic or acquired.

Taking excess cow milk can deplete the lactase enzyme (too much of everything is bad πŸ˜’)

Symptoms include : Abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence and dirrahea and general discomfort often 30 minutes to 2hours after intake.

Changing food habits can be hard but when it is necessary, changes have to be made.

So I set out to make some changes.

Alternatives

I tried two alternatives, and I noticed the difference.

The first was Coconut milk

I enjoyed it but unlike diary, it was quite expensive.

There were no discomforts and I simply enjoyed using it.

The second was lactose intolerance milk from my favourite diary brand in Khartoum

It was less creamy than the regular diary 😭😭

I did not experience discomfort with it too.

Others I did not try but wouod be good options include : Soya milk, Tigernut milk, Almond milk and simply plant based alternatives.

It is always wise to observe what works for your body and respond appropriately. If you are not sure of what you are experiencing and cannot pin point causing factors, go check the doctor who will probably refer you to a dietitian if it is food related.

Watermelon Protein shake πŸ‰

I love dairy so much. Almost everyone knows that πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

For those who are deep into weight loss programs and exercising, you are used to the term ‘Protein shake’. Today I share what I mean by protein shake πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Ice cream….. 🍦

Sorry, I digressed πŸ™ƒ

Watermelon is one of the world’s best fruit. Good for snacking on, juicy for loosing weight, healthy and filled with water that keeps you hydrated and your skin fresh. A fruit you can comfortably snack on at night πŸ˜‰(night snackers like me, I got you 😁😁)

The seeds can also be consumed, have a good amount of oil that is healthy but if you don’t like it, you can keep them for replanting πŸ€—πŸŒ±

Ingredients πŸ„πŸ„

  • Frozen watermelon
  • Yoghurt
  • Liquid milk
  • Powdered milk
  • Sugar(optional)

Procedure β›„

I wanted to use a blender but oops! The one available was broken πŸ™ so I used a hand whisker(hope I got it right). I would recommend you use a blender instead, to give a smoother result.

First you mix yoghurt and liquid milk(add sugar here) blend or whisk.

Yoghurt amd liquid milk

Add frozen watermelon till it all smoothen together πŸ˜‹

Then you add the powdered milk

with powdered milk

You can call this a smoothie or a protein combo shake or diary combo πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

It looked better in real life and my glass is not too posh πŸ˜‚

An easy drink you can drink anytime πŸ˜‡

N. B if you are lactose intolerant, buy dairy that does not contain lactose so you can still enjoy this. Also the measurements varies, depending on the quantity you are making.

No need to add water, water from the frozen watermelon and liquid milk is enough

A nice dessert or liquid snack for anyway.
